This itinerary showcases 4 outstanding locations in Kenya. By visiting these areas you will be directly contributing to the conservation efforts to save the Rhino. On this safari you will gain insight on the camps and lodges and the local communities work hand in hand to save Africa’s endangered species.
Ol Pejeta Conservancy is the largest black rhino sanctuary in East Africa. Here you get the chance to meet Baraka – a black rhino that has been living in this conservancy after he lost his sight making it impossible for him to live in the wild. A visit to the Northern white Rhino enclosure is extremely rewarding.
The Solio Game Reserve is also featured in this itinerary, initially a cattle ranch, it was formed as part of conservation efforts to save the endangered black rhino. Today it is one of the most successful rhino breeding sanctuary in East Africa. The wildlife experience here is mind blowing.
Next stop is Lewa Wildlife Conservancy, another successful rhino protection programme. The conservancy has a huge concentration of game including the white and black rhinos and the big five. There are over 3000 bird species found here.
Onto Naboisho Conservancy which adjacent to the Masai Mara Game Reserve. Conservancy offers a high density of wildlife and a low density of other tourists, making for a truly memorable safari away from the crowds. Cultural activities here include visiting the local villages and schools, engaging in community projects among others.
Safari Itinerary
Day 1: Welcome to Kenya
On arrival at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, you will be warmly met and transferred to the Eka Hotel. The rest of the day is for you to spend at leisure, rest up and prepare for an exciting safari.
Overnight at Eka Hotel. Meal plan is Bed and breakfast.
Day 2 & 3: Ol Pejeta Conservancy and Solio Game Reserve
Depart after breakfast and drive southwards towards the Nanyuki equator point arriving Porini Rhino Camp in time for lunch. Porini Rhino Camp is located in the Ol Pejeta Conservancy, a conservation area focused on protecting the local environment and wildlife. After lunch you have a chance to relax before embarking on an afternoon game drive and a visit to the chimpanzee sanctuary to meet Baraka. The next day you will visit Solio Game Reserve for a full day tour and a chance to interact and feed the Rhinos.
Day 4 - 6: Lewa Wildlife Conservancy
This morning after a hearty breakfast, you will be driven to Lewa wildlife Conservancy arriving at Lewa Wilderness Camp where you stay for the next 3 nights. Here you bid good bye to our guide as the camp now takes over all the safari activities including shared game drives and walks. A stay here goes beyond the usual game drives. You will have the opportunity to Explore the conservancy on foot, keep your eyes peeled on a night drive or spend an unforgettable night camping in the bush for a real safari adventure. With 266 species of birds to spot, there are also ample birdwatching opportunities.
Day 7 - 9: Naboisho Conservancy, Maasai Mara.
This morning you will catch yet another flight to the Maasai Mara. On arrival at the local airstrip, you will be warmly met by a driver guide from Asilia Naboisho Camp and driven to the camp. Enjoy a sumptuous lunch followed by an afternoon game drive in search of the Big 5. Return to the camp just in time to freshen up for dinner.
Your time in the Masai Mara will be peppered with game drives exploring the vast grasslands, perhaps a bush breakfast or a glorious sundowner in the African bush, and many incredible wildlife experiences.
Day 9: Ends in Nairobi
Today you’ll return to the airstrip ready to board your light-aircraft flight of around an hour to Wilson Airport; look out for Maasai compounds below, or even flocks of flamingos. A driver-guide will transfer you to JKIA Airport, or will help you explore Nairobi before it’s time to check in.
